The Birth through Eight Strategy for Tulsa (BEST)

Early Learning and Development

The best beginning

BEST is an extension of GKFF’s commitment to create the greatest opportunity for self-fulfillment for each child — especially those who come from the least advantaged circumstances.

Research-backed impact

As most brain development happens by age three, the interactions a child experiences early in life have a direct impact on their future. BEST serves to ensure that all children are given the same opportunities to thrive and are set up for successful life outcomes beginning at birth.

Extensive research on brain development, parent-child relationships and early childhood care and education guide BEST’s work to foster early brain development, increase access and participation in quality programs and services, connect families to support and improve conditions for children to succeed.

Ensuring that children succeed from the start

Through a network of public, non-profit and private organizations — including Tulsa Educare and other programs GKFF supports — BEST provides a comprehensive continuum of care so Tulsa’s children have access to the opportunities and resources they need.

BEST’s efforts are leading to increasing percentages of children who are:

  • Born healthy
  • On a positive developmental trajectory
  • Achieving success by third grade
  • Ready for kindergarten
